Village of Riverwoods Hosts First Ever ‘Cars in the Woods’ on June 3

Community invited to view Riverwoods residents' antique and classic cars on Saturday, June 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Car enthusiasts and their families are invited to enjoy ‘Cars in the Woods,’ the first ever Riverwoods Invitational Car Show, on Saturday, June 3 being held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Flatwoods Heritage Center on the grounds of Riverwoods Village Hall, located at 300 Portwine Road, Riverwoods.

There is no charge to attend. Guests are welcome to stay and picnic outside the Riverwoods Village Hall. Parking will be available. Village Hall will be open for access to rest rooms and water fountains.

A Fun, Non-Judged Car Show

“This is a non-judged show set up only for enjoying the cars. We are not focused on any particular type of car, however, we would anticipate modern sports cars, 1960s muscle cars, restored classic cars, and very old antique cars to be on exhibit,” said John Maxson, a long-time collector including his Model A Ford (re-stored twice) purchased for $400 when he was in high school.

As of now, examples of cars that will be on display include: 1931 Ford Model A, 1934 Bentley Drophead, 1941 Packard Model 120, 1949 Willys Jeepster, 1956 Ford Thunderbird, 1959 Corvette Roadster, 1970 Dodge Challenger, 1972 Ford Bronco, 1974 Volkswagen Thing, 1997 Ford Mustang, 1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata, 2000 Rolls-Royce Corniche,2004 Thunderbird, 2012 Porsche 911S, 2018 Corvette 206 Coupe, 2021 Corvette Z51 HTC and a 2021 Camero LT2 Rally Sport Shock and Steel Edition.
