Where To Get Your Flu Shot This Year

A public vaccination clinic is scheduled at St. Norbert School in Northbrook on Friday, Oct. 14.

Along with the changing leaves, coughs and runny noses are among the signs of fall.

For some, getting the flu is a minor annoyance. But for others—particularly the elderly and the chronically ill—it can be very serious or even deadly.

To help prevent the spread of the virus this fall, the Cook County Department of Health (CCDPH) has supplied the influenza vaccine to community sites around the suburbs that serve as public vaccination clinics.

According to CCDPH interim chief operating officer Sandra Martell, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises anyone six months of age and older to get the flu vaccine each year. 

“The best way to protect you and your family is to get vaccinated today,” Martell said in a press release.

In the north suburbs, the next public vaccination clinic will be held at in Northbrook from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14. Flu shots are offered at the discounted rate of $20 apiece.

A complete list of public clinics can be found on the Cook County Department of Health website.  Anyone interested in getting vaccinated can also get the flu shot at their doctor’s office, as well as several drug stores and grocery stores in the area.
