GLENVIEW, IL — When teachers arrived at Willowbrook Elementary School Thursday to clean out their classrooms, they were in for a pleasant surprise. Along the windows at the entrance to the school were hand-made messages and posters from students thanking the teachers for all they do.

Superintendent Brian Wegley and Principal Scott Carlson, were present too, at a safe distance, masked, and standing proud at the entrances. It was a heartfelt message to the teachers, who continue to give so much of themselves to district students, while still managing full lives at home.

The teachers all wore masks, according to Northbrook/Glenview School District 30. Heads were held high, boxes in hand, as they came to empty their rooms, one-by-one, and very safely distanced from any other individuals in the vicinity.

Small bottles of precious hand sanitizer stood like small soldiers next to disposable gloves on tables, as each educator entered Maple, Wescott and Willowbrook Schools.

The signs proclaimed things like, “We Love Our Teachers,” “We Miss You!”, “Thank You!”, “Teachers: Our Heroes,” and more.
