Witness Claims Woman Was Drinking and Driving, Literally: Police

Plus: Cops catch man with stolen iPhone thanks to credit card transactions.

The following is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an admission of guilt.

Not His iPhone

Michael M. Wiseman, 23, of the 4900 block of West Huron Street, Chicago, was arrested Oct. 12, and charged with theft for allegedly taking an iPhone from the employee area of a store in the 300 block of Skokie Highway. Police apprehended Wiseman using video clips from the store and credit card information from a transaction Wiseman made while in the store. Wiseman taken in to custody and was released on $1,500 bond, and his court date is Nov. 24.

Drinking and Driving, Literally

Kelly Bell, 50, of the 2800 block of Koepke Road, Northbrook was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane use and illegal possession of alcohol while driving after a traffic stop Oct. 24, at Shermer Road and Church Street.

Police responded to a report of a driver drinking from a bottle of alcohol as she drove southbound on Shermer Road. When officers located Bell and pulled her over, they determined she was driving under the influence and took her in to custody. Bell was released on $3,000 bond, and her court date is Dec. 4.

Stealing From Work

Kortilya A. Holiday, 19, of the 0-100 block of East Carriage Way Drive, Hazel Crest, was charged with theft Oct. 24 after an incident at her former workplace in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. The loss prevention agent at the store where Holiday had worked told police Holiday had made seven illegal cash refunds between Sept. 15 and Oct. 18, using old cash receipts to refund fictitious cash transactions and then keep the money for herself.

Holiday was released on a $1,500 bond, and her court date is Dec. 8.

Driving Under the Influence

Annette M. Caras, 53, of the 1400 block of Voltz Road, Northbrook, was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane use after a traffic stop Oct. 25, in the 1700 block of Techny Road. Officers stopped Caras at about 12:06 a.m., and after speaking to her, they believed she was under the influence.

Caras was taken in to custody and released on $1,500 bond. Her court dates is Dec. 4.
