10 Recent Vehicle Thefts On Chicago's North Side, Mapped
Chicago police are reminding North Side drivers not to leave their vehicles running unattended.

CHICAGO, IL — Forgot something back in your house while you're warming your car? Don't leave your keys in the ignition while you grab it—that's the message Chicago police are sending North Side drivers after more than ten vehicle thefts over the past month.
In each theft, police said the offenders waited for the driver to leave his or her vehicle with the engine running, and then got into the driver's seat and took off, police said.
Most thefts are happening during evening hours on and around Lincoln Avenue:

- 1100 Block of West Diversey on Jan. 16 at 8 p.m.
- 3900 Block of North Lincoln on Jan. 20 at 5:30 p.m.
- 2400 Block of North Halsted on Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.
- 1000 Block of North Altgeld on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.
- 3200 Block of North Southport on Feb. 02 at 7:45 a.m.
- 2700 Block of North Lincoln on Feb. 3 at 8:35 p.m.
- 3300 Block of North Lincoln on Feb. 4 at 6:15 p.m.
- 4000 Block of North Lincoln on Feb. 5 at 6:15 p.m.
- 2900 Block of North Lincoln on Feb. 8 at 8 p.m.
- 3600 Block of North Ashland on Feb. 9 at 11:15 p.m.
Police described the offender's vehicle as a dark-colored Sedan.
