The COUNTRY Chef Challenge is an Iron
Chef like competition that features local celebrity chefs and judges who will
have an hour to shop the market and prepare a dish made from fresh ingredients
available at the market that day. This year's chefs are Jared Van Camp
(Executive Chef Nellcote), Chef Beverly Kim Clark (Top Chef Finalist) and Thai
Dang (Executive Chef Embeya). A panel of judges led by Catherine De Orio (Host
Check, Please!), Billy Dec (Entertainment Correspondent on ABC's Windy City
Live) and Daniel Gerzina (Editor of Eater Chicago) will taste the dishes and
name this year's "Master of the Market".
This free event is sponsored by the Department of Cultural Affairs &
Special Events and COUNTRY Financial and was created to help raise awareness
for local Chicago markets and healthy eating.
