Al Sofia Music to Perform for Union League Club of Chicago
Chicago, Illinois - April 16, 2013 - The Al Sofia Band will perform at the Union League Club’s Civic & Arts Foundation Ball on Saturday, April 27th. This will be the 10th year The Al Sofia Band has performed at the event. The ball is open to the public and will take place at The Union League Club of Chicago.
The Civic & Arts Foundation supports aspiring high school and college students in their pursuit of their specific art form. Encouraging young artists to strive to better their craft and serve as role models for future generations, the organization motivates a sense of understanding and appreciation for the social ties that exist in our community. Program participants receive support at pivotal moments in their young careers so they can remain and flourish in their profession.

Playing for the Civic & Arts Foundation year after year is more than just a gig. Al Sofia’s very own vocalist Leslie Beukelman won the program’s Jazz Singer competition twice as a student while at Roosevelt University. The foundation’s artistic competitions for students and young adults offer top scholarships or awards to either display the artists’ work or perform for selected audiences. Leslie went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Music degree with honors from Roosevelt’s Chicago College of Performing Arts.
“We are so honored and proud to be asked back again and again to play the Civic & Arts Foundation Ball,” said band leader Al Sofia. “The organization’s commitment to the arts and its subsequent success is something to be proud of and Al Sofia Music is happy to support the cause.”
