"Bickell Dog" Kickoff Event with Bryan Bickell and Meatheads!

Meatheads and the Bickell Foundation Create the "Bickell Dog" Hot Dog To Support Bick's Pits

Meatheads has gone to the dogs! The restaurant will be offering a special hot dog on its menu this spring, “The Bickell Dog”, created in honor of Chicago Blackhawks Left Winger Bryan Bickell and his wife Amanda and their charity, The Bryan and Amanda Bickell Foundation. The footlong Vienna Beef hot dog is topped with chili and Fritos and served on a cheddar cheese New England-style bun. The hot dog ($5.00) will be on the menu from March 7th to May 3rd. Meatheads will donate 10 percent of the hot dog sale price to The Bryan and Amanda Bickell Foundation (www.bickellfoundation.org).

To kick off the “Bickell Dog” promotion, Bryan Bickell will be visiting Meatheads in Roscoe Village (3304 N. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60618) on Saturday, March 7th from 3:30 p.m. -5 p.m. for a meet-and-greet with fans and supporters of his foundation. Guests can line up outside of the restaurant at 2 p.m., Bryan will sign autographs and take photos. Some of Bick’s adoptable pit bulls will also be on-site for all to meet. Cost is $5 for kids 10 and under and $10 for adult. This includes a voucher for a free Bickell Dog! Space is limited and it is first come, first serve. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Bryan and Amanda Bickell Foundation.

“Having a Bickell Dog on the Meatheads menu is a fun way for us to create awareness for our foundation and its programs that help abused children through rescued dogs labeled “pit bulls”, these dogs who are often overlooked because of that label but are great dogs,” said Bryan Bickell. “Amanda and I are excited about the partnership and seeing the Bickell Dog on the menu at Meatheads locations around Illinois.”

The Bryan and Amanda Bickell Foundation was founded in 2012 with the mission to create awareness for the compassionate, loyal and misunderstood dogs labeled “pit bulls” and working with them to assist abused children. The Bickells became passionate about helping pit bulls after rescuing their dog Bailey from an abusive owner when she was a puppy. The foundation works to educate the public about these misunderstood dogs and helps find them safe and loving families to adopt them. The foundation also has a new element, Bullies Against Bullying program, which teaches children who are victims of abuse and bullying about compassion and kindness.

“This is an exciting partnership between Meatheads and The Bryan and Amanda Bickell Foundation,” says Tom Jednorowicz, CEO/Founder of Meatheads. “At Meatheads, we strive not only to serve quality food, but to help our community through local charities like this one that promotes educating and bettering the lives of people and pets alike.”
