Business as Usual at Paulina Meat Market (VIDEO)

The Paulina Meat Market continues business as usual as USDA cuts take effect due to sequestration.

The meat industry has mixed feelings about the cuts made to the United States Department of Agriculture’s budget after sequestration—a series of automatic spending cuts made into law by the Budget Control Act of 2011—took effect last week.

The USDA could reduce its number of annual meat distribution inspections by 2,100 as a result of furloughs on employees, according to a White House statement. This reduction could cause the rate of food-borne disease and the costs of meat to rise.

The Paulina Meat Market, however, is not certain the cuts will affect its business, says owner Bill Begale.
