New Year, New You See Your Resolution Through To Completion
Success for keeping on track with your New Year's Resolution. Plus, the aim of Winter months according to Chinese Medicine.
As the new year approaches you will likely think of all the ways you hope to reinvent yourself in the upcoming year – lose weight, get a job promotion, stop smoking. These are all great resolutions. Like many, you may find yourself trying to repeat last year's failed resolution. You may even be tempted to get down on yourself for letting your goals pass you by. Make this year different. Here are some points to consider before the New Year begins.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, each season is associated with different organ systems in your body. The winter months are associated with the kidneys. Winter is a time of restoration and introspection. How will this help you fulfill your New Year's resolution? When you find time to relax, the rest will help build your core reserves and support the internal fortitude needed to cultivate creative action. When spring comes around, you can utilize the energy you’ve amassed to take action with and vigor that will last throughout the year.
Allow winter to be a period during which new ideas form. During the month leading up to the New Year, decide what it is you want to pursue. Start by asking yourself these questions: What need does your bad habit fulfill? What actions might you take to gain control of your resolution and what will that look and feel like? For example, did you know acupuncture can help you stay focused on your goals by managing stress and anxiety? Plan your course of action and set a concrete date to begin your commitment to it.
The more specific your plan to reinvent yourself, the more creative you will become about accomplishing your goal. Let this include new ways and patterns of thinking and being. Before you begin your journey remember to slow down, rest, and take time for self inquiry. With a realistic and specific new plan you are much more likely to succeed.
