Signal Ensemble Theatre Presents Final Season Production,'Lascivious Something'

Signal Ensemble Theatre ends their Tenth Anniversary 2012-2013 Season with their final production, the Chicago premiere of Lascivious Something, at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 West Berenice Ave.

On a secluded Greek island, an American ex-pat (August) pursues his passions: winemaking and his breathtaking young wife Daphne. Then, on the eve of Ronald Reagan’s presidential inauguration, the first tasting of the new wine is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of August’s former lover.

Inspired by Greek tragedy,Lascivious Something combines evocative language with sympathetic yet deeply flawed characters straight out of Euripides.

Lascivious Something is written by Sheila Callaghan and is directed by Signal Ensemble member and Co-Artistic Director Ronan Marra.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Sheila Callaghan's plays have been produced and developed with Soho Rep, Playwright's Horizons, South Coast Repertory, Clubbed Thumb, The LARK, Actor's Theatre of Louisville, New Georges, Woolly Mammoth, and Rattlestick Playwright's Theatre, among others. She is the recipient of the Princess Grace Award for emerging artists, a Jerome Fellowship from the Playwright's Center in Minneapolis, a MacDowell Residency, a Cherry Lane Mentorship Fellowship, the Susan Smith Blackburn Award, and the prestigious Whiting Award. Her plays have been produced internationally and include Scab, Crawl Fade to White, Crumble (Lay me Down, Justin Timberlake), We Are Not These Hands, Dead City, Lascivious Something, Kate Crackernuts, That Pretty Pretty; Or, The Rape Play; Fever/Dream, Everything You Touch, Roadkill Confidential and Women Laughing Alone with Salad. In 2010, Callaghan was profiled by Marie Claire as one of "18 Successful Women Who Are Changing the World." She was also named one of Variety magazine's "10 Screenwriters to Watch" of 2010.

Signal Ensemble Member and Co-Artistic Director Ronan Marra is a founder of Signal Ensemble Theatre and his directing credits with the company include the recent Successors,  the critically acclaimed East of Berlin and The Russian Play, Hostage Song, his own Aftermath, The Real Inspector Hound, The Ballad of the Sad Cafe, 1776 (Jeff Award -- Best Production, Musical), The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Six Degrees of Separation, Fool For Love, Hamlet, Closer, The Zoo Story, Seascape (Jeff Award), Waiting for Godot, (Jeff Recommended), his own Landslide (two Jeff Award nominations including New Work), She Stoops to Conquer, Much Ado About Nothing and his own Learning to Fly.
