Car Thefts in North Center Prompt Police Warning

Police have issued a warning after multiple car thefts in North Center, Lincoln Park, and Lake View.

CHICAGO, IL -- Police sent out a community alert Monday warning residents in Lincoln Park, Lake View, and North Center to be vigilant after about a dozen vehicle thefts hit the neighborhoods. Police said many of the thefts have taken place during daylight hours--not just overnight.

Here are the locations and times the vehicle thefts took place:

• 2700 block of North Greenview: between 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 18 and 6 a.m. Sept. 19.
• 1200 block of West Nelson Street: at around midnight on Sept. 21
• 500 block of West Aldine Street: at around 9 a.m. on Sept. 23
• 900 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue: between 9 a.m. on Sept. 25 and 1 p.m. Sept. 27
• 4400 block of North Ravenswood Avenue: between 9 p.m. on Sept. 26 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 27
• 600 block of West Belmont Avenue: between 9:30-10:40 a.m. on Oct. 3
• 900 block of West Wrightwood Avenue: at around 11:25 a.m. on Oct. 4
• 3300 block of North Halsted Street: between 9:30-11:50 p.m. on Oct. 5
• 1400 block of West Montrose Avenue: between 1:30-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 9
• 3300 block of North Bell Avenue at 8 a.m. on Oct. 10
• 4000 block of North Kenmore Avenue: between 9 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday
• 4300 block of North Clarendon Avenue: at around 10 p.m. on Sunday

Residents with any information on the thefts are asked to warn their neighbors, and contact the Chicago Police Department's Bureau of Detectives-Area North at 312-744-8263.
