Convicted Felon Charged In Portage Park Home Invasion
A man allegedly went into a Northwest Side home and demanded money from a resident at knifepoint, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A convicted felon was taken into custody after a home invasion in the Portage Park neighborhood, police said. The man walked into a home just after 1 p.m. Friday in the 5400 block of West Berteau and demanded money from a man at knifepoint, police said. The men struggled, and the intruder ran off, according to police.
A few minutes later, the felon tried to rob another home in the 4100 block of North Lockwood, police said. Officers were called to the home and he was arrested.
Pepe Martinez, 39, was charged with felony counts of home invasion using a dangerous weapon and possession of a controlled substance, police said. Martinez, of the Brighton Park neighborhood, was being held without bond at Cook County Jail, police said.
