DUI Crackdown Planned on North Side This Weekend

Chicago police will have increased patrols in the Shakespeare District Saturday night.

CHICAGO, IL - Chicago police are planning to conduct a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Shakespeare District on the North Side this weekend.

The patrol is expected to be out somewhere in the 14th District from 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 23 through 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 24.

Officers participating will have access to a breath alcohol testing unit to "expedite" the process of charging a suspect with a DUI. They will also be on the lookout for seat belt violators and speeders.

"The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving," according to a police news release.
