Dark Tower Comics at 4835 N. Western Ave. will be giving away free comics during Halloween ComicFest, Oct. 26 and 27.
At the event, 22 Halloween themed comics and mini comics will be given out for free to anyone who goes to the shops. The titles of the comics include Batman, Spider-Man, Thor, Adventure Time, Archie, Sonic, and many more that comic fans of all ages will enjoy.
Individual stores will also be hosting their own special events such as sales, comic signings, artist appearances and drawings, costume contests, and also community awareness programs such as blood drives and fundraisers.
Also during the weekend, "The Greatest Halloween Costume Contest Ever" will be taking place and runs until Nov. 15. To enter the contest, participants must get a costume contest button from a participating comic shop (which they can get while they are getting their free comics), submit a picture of themselves in costume featuring the official button, and then start gaining votes on the website.
Two random winners will win $500 to the comic shop of their choice along with other prizes. To enter, go to www.halloweencomicfest.com/costumecontest.
More 1,400 stores nationwide are participating and over one million Halloween ComicFest full sized comics and mini comics have been ordered for the event. To find a participating comic shop, go to www.halloweencomicfest.com/StoreLocator and see all the FREE comics at www.halloweencomicfest.com.
