Man Accused Of Robbing North Center Store Employees At Gunpoint
A man stole more than $700 from a North Side cell phone store, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A man robbed two employees at a cell phone store on Chicago's North Side on Friday, police said. The robbery happened at a T-Mobile store at 1958 W. Irving Park Road around 6:05 p.m., according to police. More than $700 was stolen from the employees at gunpoint with a blue steel revolver handgun, police said.
Tyree Ruth, 46, has been charged with three counts of armed robbery. Police said he had an accomplice who wasn't caught. After the employees were robbed, the two suspects took off in a car, police said. Ruth jumped out of the car in the 3000 block of North Broadway and was arrested soon after, police said.
The driver continued to River North and crashed into two other cars, police said. No one was hurt, police said.

Ruth, of the 6300 block of South King Drive in the city's Parkway Gardens neighborhood, was ordered held without bail Sunday.
The second suspect was not in custody, police said.
