Man Breaks Into Lakeview Apartment, Ties Up Woman: Police

Police have released surveillance images of a suspect who is wanted for allegedly breaking into a woman's apartment and tying her up.

CHICAGO, IL — Police are looking for a man who allegedly broke into an apartment in the Lakeview neighborhood and tied up a woman on Feb. 25. The break-in happened in the 900 block of West George Street around 4:30 p.m., according to police. The man forced his way in by kicking in the back door, police said.

The man tied up the 24-year-old woman, then stole her laptop, cell phone and car keys, police said. After he fled, the woman ran to a neighbor's apartment for help.

A CTA camera recorded the suspect using the woman's Ventra card at the CTA Brown Line shortly after the burglary, police said.

The suspect is described as black, in his mid-40s, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and 240 pounds. He was wearing a green wool cap, a green parka, blue jeans and tan work boots, police said.
