North Side Man Charged With Showing Explicit Photos To Girl

The man turned himself in Friday after allegedly targeting a 10-year-old girl in Irving Park, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A man turned himself in to police Friday after showing a 10-year-old girl explicit photos earlier in the week, police said. He went up to the girl Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. in the Irving Park neighborhood, according to authorities. The girl was in the 3700 block of North Lawndale when she was approached, police said.

Elvis Ruiz, 24, showed the child "sexually explicit images" on his cellphone before she walked away and told an adult, police said.

Ruiz, who lives in the North Park neighborhood, was charged with a felony count of manufacturing harmful material with a cellphone. His bail was set at $10,000 during a Sunday hearing and he was released after posting bond, Cook County court records show. He's scheduled to be back in court on Friday.
