Twice a week, the residents at Neumann Family Services are learning about healthy habits and enjoying fun, engaging workouts. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, team members from Orange Shoe Fitness, lead fitness classes for clients from the agency, which promotes quality of life, inclusion and independence for people with disabilities. "They are learning about cardiovascular health, strength," says Orange Shoe fitness owner Wade Anderson. "They're learning healthy habits that will last a lifetime."
Yesterday, the Northcenter Chamber of Commerce honored Orange Shoe Fitness with the 2nd Annual PLM Corporate Citizenship Award for their work with Neumann Family Services. Anderson and his team proudly accepted the award at the Chamber's monthly networking meeting at the Celtic Crown Public House.
The Chamber chose to recognize Orange Shoe for their work promoting health and wellness not just to their customers, but the community at large. “Anyone can write a check, but when you donate your time and your service to help people live a healthier, better life, it has a great impact,” Anderson says. “We are happy to give back to the community.”

The PLM Corporate Citizenship Award recognizes local businesses for their service to the Northcenter community and outstanding acts of citizenship. The award, established in 2012, is named for Patrick Leo McGinnis, a Chicago firefighter and community servant who previously served as a legislative aide to Alderman Gene Schulter and the Youth Outreach Director of the Neighborhood Boys & Girls Clubs. "It's an honor to lend my name to this award and celebrate people doing good work in the community like Wade and the folks at Orange Shoe," McGinnis said of this year's award.
