Police Warn Of Attempted Child Luring In North Center
A suspect approached a child playing outside an elementary school on the North Side, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — Police have sent out a community alert warning that a man tried to lure a child in the city's North Center neighborhood. The incident happened Thursday around 2:15 p.m. outside Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School, police said. The school is located in the 3700 block of North Bell.
Police said the suspect was walking along the schoolyard fence when he approached the 10-year-old child and beckoned for the child to come to him. As the child approached, the suspect reached through the wrought iron fence and touched the 1o-year-old, speaking incoherently, according to police. The child then ran away and notified school staff, police said.
Police said the man may be suffering from dementia and mental health issues.

The suspect was described as a man of Asian or possibly Hispanic decent, around 60 to 70 years old, police said. He was wearing a tan baseball cap, tan jacket, blue jeans and black shoes, according to police.
