Starbucks Barista Punched Over $7 in Tip Jar: Cops
Battery charges for Chicago man after violent incident over a Starbucks tip jar in North Center last week.

CHICAGO, IL - A female barista at the Starbucks in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood was punched in the face by a man she tried to stop from getting away with $7 from the tip jar, prosecutors claim in their case against Carlton Cherry.
Cherry, 19, of West Ridge was charged with felony robbery and felony aggravated battery of a merchant in connection with the incident last Friday at the Starbucks near the busy intersection of Lincoln/Damen/Irving Park, according to Crime in Wrigleyville & Boystown.
Prosecutors say Cherry walked into the shop at 4015 N. Lincoln and took $7 from the tip jar before punching the 40-year-old woman in the mouth.

Cherry was found by police shortly after on Montrose Avenue. He was brought back to Starbucks, where he was identified as the suspect and arrested.
According to CWB, Cherry has a tattoo on his left hand that says “Guns Drugs Money Sex.”
