String Of Garage Burglaries Hits North Center, Roscoe Village

Burglars are breaking into garages and rummaging through vehicles inside, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — Police have issued a community alert for residents in the 19th police district warning of a string of garage burglaries. Police said the break ins happened during the overnight hours in Roscoe Village and North Center in mid April. The suspects are rummaging through vehicles parked in the garages in search of property, police said.

Police said the garage burglaries happened in the following locations:

  • 2300 block of West Cullom on April 10 between 12:01 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.
  • 3300 block of North Bell between April 11 and April 12
  • 4200 block of North Claremont between April 12 and April 13
  • 3400 block of North Damen between April 16 and April 17
  • 2000 block of West Bradley on April 17 at around 3:45 a.m.

Police are warning residents to keep their garages securely locked, maintain a working surveillance system and "pay special attention" to any suspicious people loitering in the area.
