Suspect In Custody After Shots Fired In Uptown
Multiple shots were fired in the Wilson and Broadway intersection Friday, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A suspect is in custody after multiple shots were fired on Chicago's North Side Friday, police said. It happened at the Wilson and Broadway intersection in Uptown around 10 a.m., according to authorities. Fortunately, no one was hit.
The shooter was in police custody within minutes of the incident, according to Ald. James Cappleman, who applauded the quick response.
"Chicago Police officers heard the shots as they were fired and arrived on the scene immediately," Cappleman said in a ward newsletter. "I want to extend my gratitude to the police for their extremely quick action as well as community members who stepped up to identify the alleged perpetrator."

The alderman said he would continue to work closely with police to improve safety and security at the intersection and throughout the 46th Ward.
A weapon also was recovered by police.
