Embark on a journey across time, space, and human
experience. Chicago’s Peregrine Vocal Ensemble continues its commitment to musical storytelling that engages audiences and connects communities with Joby Talbot’s Path of Miracles. This hour-long a cappella piece recounts the
medieval pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela via Roncesvalles, Burgos, and
Leon, a path that travelers continue to follow today. Spanning four movements, signifying four major points on the pilgrimage, the piece draws upon centuries-old stories of the miracles of Saint James and the travails and traditions of faithful travelers en route to his shrine, a place where earth and heaven are said become one. Peregrine Vocal Ensemble brings the story of this journey to Chicago – won’t you join the caravan?
Peregrine Vocal Ensemble is directed by Emilie Amrein and is comprised of twenty-six professional choral singers from the Chicago area who have a deep commitment to narrative-based programming. The group was founded on the core belief that we can better navigate cultural difference, reconcile conflict, and inspire empathy through narrative-based artistic expression. Peregrine concert programs feature the thoughtful juxtaposition of historic and contemporary repertoire for the human voice.
