Alcohol Compliance Campaign Making A Difference In Oak Brook: Police

Oak Brook Police say their ongoing campaign to control illegal drinking and driving under the influence has been successful.

OAK BROOK, IL —

The Oak Brook Police Department is pleased to report 100% compliance in recent alcohol compliance checks. Oak Brook Police has partnered with the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, to implement a comprehensive alcohol control program. This ongoing campaign focuses on the implementation and expansion of community-based programs, which utilize retail education, enforcement and public awareness.

Members of the Oak Brook Police Department distribute educational packets of information, including state and local liquor laws, health information about alcohol use from the Surgeon Genera for all retailers who hold a liquor license in Oak Brook. Oak Brook Police also deliver letters to all liquor license holders, advising of random compliance checks. During the month of June, the Investigation Division conducted two alcohol compliance checks. We received 100% compliance with all retailers checking for ID and/or asked the age of the minor who attempted to purchase alcohol and refusing the sale.

The successful results of this compliance check indicate effectiveness in the educational efforts by the Oak Brook Police Department in the prevention of the under-age purchase of alcohol products and the responsibility taken by our liquor license holders to assist us in keeping Oak Brook safe.
