Jubilee Children Ministries Donates to Children Fighting Cancer

The Jubilee Children Ministries in Oak Brook recently gave back to children and teens fighting cancer by donating new toys, journals and 40 American Girl Dolls to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation.

Jubilee Children Ministries' mission is to obtain donations and supplies for organizations that serve, protect, and better the lives of children.

Esther Anderson Founder and President of the Jubilee Children Ministries described the rationale behind the partnership between the two organizations. “Jubilee Children Ministries assists organizations that protect and better the lives of children with donations of supplies, and funds. We joyfully and faithfully support the Treasure Chest Foundation which serves a crucial role in providing comfort and happiness to children living with cancer. We donate in spring, summer and fall when supplies for the children and teens are low.”

Treasure Chest Foundation CEO and Founder Colleen Kisel acknowledged the importance of Jubilee Children Ministries' donation at a critical time of year, “The Treasure Chest Foundation is especially grateful to the Jubilee Children Ministries for their enormous donation of toys, gifts and 40 American Girl Dolls,” said Ms. Kisel. “Esther’s donation will help us continue to support brave young children and teens as they endure painful procedures in their battle against cancer. We are truly blessed to have the support of the Jubilee Children Ministries.”

The POTCF is a unique organization whose services impact more than 15,700 young cancer patients in 65 cancer treatment centers in 21 states across the nation and in the District of Columbia. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Ms. Kisel discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain, noting that when children are diagnosed with cancer their world soon becomes filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures. Martin celebrated his 29th anniversary of remission from the disease in March of this year.
