CHICAGO, IL — A baby born several weeks early and twins are among the first children born in the new year at Chicago area hospitals.

Early Arrival: Elgin Couple Welcomes Baby Minutes After Midnight

Gabrielle Walkine and Gabriel Brown of Elgin welcomed the first baby born in the new year at AMITA Health Women's & Children's Hospital in Hoffman Estates at 12:11 a.m. Wednesday, hospital officials said. Gemarion Brown was born several weeks early and weighed 3 pounds, 8 ounces and was 16 inches in length.

A set of twins were the first of the babies born in 2020 at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. The twins were born to Bloomingdale residents Sarah and James Clarke.

Theodore William Clarke was born at 5:17 a.m. on New Year's Day, and his brother, Logan James Clarke, was born just a minute later.

Gilberts Couple Welcomes First NY Baby At Sherman

Mary and Charles Bernadi welcomed their new baby boy at 12:33 p.m. on New Year's Day. The boy, who has yet to be named, was the first baby born in 2020 at Advocate Sherman Hospital, hospital officials said.

The boy was 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 18.5 inches in length. He has two siblings, Owen and Brooklyn

Antioch Couple Has Condell Medical Center's First Baby

Taylor Dacquisto and Scott Tatro of Antioch are the proud new parents of Zayn Tatro — the first baby born in the New Year at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Zayn weighed six pounds, 8 ounces and was 18 inches in length and was born at 6:22 p.m.

The baby boy has one sibling, Zach Tatro.

Wheeling Boy Is Highland Park Hospital's First Birth Of 2020

The first baby born in 2020 at NorthShore Highland Park Hospital was delivered to a Wheeling couple Thursday.

Remy Kai Bhosale-Wrightson was born at 8:15 a.m. weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces and measuring 20¾ inches, to parents Anushree Bhosale and Chris Wrightson, according to a hospital spokesperson.

0ak Brook Couple Welcomes Baby Girl

Just hours after midnight, Simrah was born to Sana and Imran Akhtar at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. The baby girl, born at 5:24 a.m., was the first to make its appearance at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces, Simrah was 18.5 inches in length. The Oak Brook couple has one other child, Amirah, who just turned 1 years old on Dec. 26.

The first baby born in 2020 at NorthShore Evanston Hospital was delivered just over a quarter of an hour into the new decade.

Sutton Lainey Domont, the third child of parents Ivy and Zack Domont, of Glencoe, was born at 12:16 a.m. on New Year's Day, weighing 6 pounds and measuring 20 inches, according to a hospital spokesperson.
