Gabrielle Walkine and Gabriel Brown of Elgin welcomed the first baby born in the new year at AMITA Health Women's & Children's Hospital in Hoffman Estates at 12:11 a.m. Wednesday, hospital officials said. Gemarion Brown was born several weeks early and weighed 3 pounds, 8 ounces and was 16 inches in length.

A set of twins were the first of the babies born in 2020 at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. The twins were born to Bloomingdale residents Sarah and James Clarke.
Theodore William Clarke was born at 5:17 a.m. on New Year's Day, and his brother, Logan James Clarke, was born just a minute later.


The baby boy has one sibling, Zach Tatro.
