1 Killed In Multi-Car Crash In Oak Brook

A man from Glen Ellyn was killed in a 4-vehicle crash at 22nd Street and Midwest Road in Oak Brook.

OAK BROOK, IL - One person was killed and several others injured as a result of a serious crash that involved multiple vehicles at 22nd Street and Midwest Road Thursday afternoon in Oak Brook. Police say 22nd Street will be closed until about 7 p.m. as an investigation into the wreck continues.

The fatal victim of the crash was identified as Chen Tien of Glen Ellyn. Tien was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in critical condition after law enforcement responded to the scene at 1:24 p.m.

Police said in a statement that witnesses told them that the driver of a red Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck was driving erratically while northbound on Midwest Road from 31st Street and that the truck disregarded a red light at 22nd, striking both a Toyota Prius and a Ford Taurus that were westbound on 22nd. When authorities arrived, they said the pickup was found on top of the two other vehicles and the Taurus driver’s side door was caved in at the front of the pickup.

The pickup driver, a 53-year-old man from Park Forest and two occupants of the Ford Taurus, a 52-year-old woman and 57-year-old man from Chicago, were both taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove as a result of the crash. Tien was the driver of the Prius involved in the crash.

A Lexus SUV driven by a 74-year-old man from Hinsdale was also involved in the crash. He was not injured.
