MIDLOTHIAN, IL — Two Bremen High School District 228 educators were honored last weekend as recipients of the Illinois State Board of Education's 'Those Who Excel' awards, which recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the state's public and private elementary and secondary schools. Sarah Bogard, an English teacher at Bremen and Erin Collins, the district's alternative education director received the awards of merit from D228.

Bogard, one of 66 teachers statewide to be recognized at an award ceremony in Bloomington, helped implement Bremen's first micro pantry, started 'T-Shirt Tuesday' and leads the school's community food drive every year, according to the district.

Collins, one of 27 administrators recognized, helped launch the district's new alternative education program last year at South Suburban College's Oak Forest campus, the district said.
