2 Oak Forest Businesses Fail Underage Tobacco Sale Checks

The checks are part of a statewide effort to curb illegal sales.

Two Oak Forest businesses were cited this month for selling tobacco to minors during a joint compliance operation conducted by the Oak Forest Police and the Illinois Liquor Control Commission.

Oak Forest police conducted the third and final round of the 2014-15 “Kids Can’t Buy Them Here” tobacco compliance checks at various retailers during the evening hours of Wednesday, April 22. The purpose of the K.C.B.T.H. program is to determine which businesses may be selling tobacco products to minors (persons under 18 years of age) within the city. Each retailer who is found in violation of the can be fined from $200 up to 500.

A total of 23 locations were surveyed within the city limits of Oak Forest.

  • Mobile Gas Station, 14701 S. Central Ave.
  • Convenient Food Mart located, 15103 S. Cicero Ave.
