5 Things to Know This Week

1. Tuesday, Dec. 10 is Human Rights Day. The UN General Assembly proclaimed Dec. 10 as Human Rights Day in 1950 to bring attention to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the common standard of achievement for all people and nations. 2. Thursday, Dec. 12 is Poinsettia Day, which is in honor of Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first American minister to Mexico.
