Abby Nelson is Oak Forest HS's New Girl's Volleyball Coach
Abby played volleyball at University of Illinois and coached at Lewis University
Oak Forest High School has a new face at the helm of the Lady Bengals Varsity Volleyball Team. Oak Forest High School staff member Abby Nelson is stepping into the big shoes left by Coach Amanda Brown, who left Oak Forest High School this year to become the Assistant Principal at Jack Hille Middle School. Coach Nelson is impressed by the improvements the Lady Bengals Volleyball Team has made since they started practice earlier this season. Nelson said, “I want to get the girls to realize the potential they have and the potential they have for the post-season.”
Coach Nelson comes off the college coaching circuit, most recently coaching at Lewis University in Romeoville, where she completed her Master’s Degree in Counseling. She played volleyball at the University of Illinois as an undergrad until she was sidelined off the court with hip issues during her junior year.
Nelson is excited about the potential she sees in her team. She said, “I am looking forward to this team growing as individuals and as a team. We have made huge strides already this season and I cannot wait to see where we end up!”
