HARVEY, IL — A dozen just-born puppies and two adult dogs abandoned in a Harvey home when their owner moved are safe after being rescued by Cook County Sheriff's police.

On May 14, investigators and Cook County Animal Control went to the 15400 block of Campbell Drive to find two Pit bull mix dogs—one male and one female—who had been seen in the area. Investigators located both dogs as well as 12 Pit bull mix puppies, who were less than a week old, and learned their owner moved and left the dogs behind, the Cook County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
