Midlothian Woman, 54, Dies After Single-Vehicle Crash On I-294 Ramp: Medical Examiner

POSEN, IL — A Midlothian woman died after hitting a traffic pole in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Posen, according to authorities.

Illinois State Police said that at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, a vehicle on the 147th Street ramp of I-294 southbound left the roadway for unknown reasons and hit a traffic pole.

One person—later identified as Yolanda Covington, 54, of Midlothian—was taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Covington was later pronounced dead just before 11:30 p.m., according to records.

The ramp was closed for an investigation until approximately 10 p.m.
