Markham Man Gets 15 Years In Prison for Methamphetamine Distribution: U.S. Attorney

MOLINE, IL — A Markham man was sentenced last week to 15 years of imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release for distribution of methamphetamine, federal prosecutors said.

According to court documents and statements in late 2025, Orlando Dampier, 47, engaged in multiple-pound sales of methamphetamine, culminating in his arrest in January 2026, the U.S. Attorney's Office, Central District of Illinois said. At the time of his arrest, Dampier was found with an additional pound of methamphetamine and fentanyl packaged for resale. That same day, a search warrant was executed at Dampier's Markham home. During the search, law enforcement located three firearms, one with a defaced serial number, and additional fentanyl and cocaine.

At the sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Sara Darrow commented on the devastating impact methamphetamine and fentanyl are having on communities and the concerning volume of these controlled substances that Dampier had access to.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Dampier in January 2026. Dampier has remained in the custody of the United States Marshals Service since his arrest. He pleaded guilty before Darrow in May.

"Armed felons and drug traffickers pose a great risk to the community, and this office will continue to work with local officials to ensure these violent offenders are held accountable," said U.S. Attorney Gregory M. Gilmore. "This case is an excellent example of how the federal government assists local law enforcement with resources and support to protect the community from these crimes."

The statutory penalties for distribution of at least 50 grams of actual methamphetamine are not less than 10 years and up to life imprisonment, at least five years up to life of supervised release, and up to a $10,000,000 fine.
