Oak Forest High School's Bengal Nation raised $2,132 for the American Cancer Society this year, continuing a longstanding tradition of supporting people affected by breast cancer.
Throughout the season, the school hosted fundraisers at athletic events with support from Nothing Bundt Cakes, Do-Rite Donuts and Travelin' Tom's Coffee. Oak Forest's DECA students also printed shirts for students and staff, contributing $600 to the total.
During Pink Out Night, Principal Dempsey, Bengal parent and breast cancer thriver Darcy R., and members of the Bengal community presented a $2,132 check to Emily Steepleton of the American Cancer Society.
For Bengal Nation, the annual effort carries a personal meaning. Students, staff and families know loved ones who have been affected by breast cancer. Wearing pink, raising funds and coming together each October are ways to show them they have a community standing behind them.
Oak Forest High School thanks its students, staff, families and community partners for making this year's effort possible. Bengal Nation looks forward to continuing its support for breast cancer awareness each October.
