Another Hearing Date, Another Delay in 2009 Oak Forest Stabbing Case
The start of the trial of Derek Grib, the man accused of fatally stabbing Oak Forest teen Felix Jimenez in 2009, has been pushed back agian.

Family of friends of Felix Jimenez continue to feel the heartbreak of their loss, compounded with the stress of a consistently delayed court case.
The trial of Derek Grib, the man accused of stabbing and killing Jimenez at a party in July 2009, was finally set to start and run for three days Oct. 20—but was again delayed, this time until Dec. 15.
Over the years, numerous delays—some caused by a backlog in Cook County murder trials—have kept Jimenez’s family in a frustrating state of perpetual anticipation.
Jimenez would have turned 24 on Aug. 1. Grib, who waived his right to a jury trial, is charged with first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing and killing Jimenez at a party in Oak Forest on July 12, 2009. Jimenez died shortly after midnight July 13, 2009.
