Applications Available For Oak Forest Citizens Police Academy

The deadline to apply for a limited 25 spots in the Oak Forest Citizens Police Academy looms.

OAK FOREST, IL -- Applications remain available for the Oak Forest Citizens Police Academy that will run from September 11 through November 27 this fall. The 25-person class that showcases the inner workings of the Oak Forest Police Department will have applications available at the police department or online at the City of Oak Forest website until Sept. 6.

“Citizens will gain important insight into how law enforcement officials perform their duties and how the department serves the community,” Community Program Officer Todd Arthur said. “The purpose of the academy is to foster better communication between citizens and law enforcement through education.

This fall, the class will meet every Monday from 7-10 p.m. at the police department. A news release from the city indicates that the academy will be both informative and educational, with some classes allowing hands-on participation.
