Community Update

A quick entry about myself.  I have been involved with weather and climate with a particular interest in severe weather for many years.  Since I can remember I've always been interested in tornadoes and other severe thunderstorm events.
Tuesday, August 28, 1990, was the day which was an eventful day for me.  I was not directly involved, but that was the date of the Plainfield tornado that devastated much of the northern Illinois area.  That was the spark that finally encouraged me to also get my amateur radio (ham radio) license and my heavy interest in severe weather kicked into high gear then.  I then took the tornado and severe weather spotter course the following year.
I then went to college at NIU in 1996-1999 majoring in meteorology, but changed my interest into IT and networking.  I never lost my drive for pursuing my interest in severe weather.  I also volunteer for many organizations both involving weather, safety, and emergency medical.
I now work at the College of DuPage in their network division of IT and am the systems administrator for the weather server there.
