Battery Charge for Man in School Board Melee
A Tinley Park man was charged following the District 228 board meeting confrontation.

OAK FOREST, IL - A Tinley Park man has been charged with battery in connection with the confrontation that occurred at the most recent Bremen High School District 228 board of education meeting.
Police in Oak Forest charged Michael E. Szydelko, 55 with the alleged crime, according to a report from the Daily Southtown. He allegedly made contact with school board member Larry Canning “of an insulting and provoking nature” on April 18, the report states.
Video from the April 18 meeting at Oak Forest High School shows a group of men approach the board and confront Canning, who moments earlier was engaged in a verbal dispute with board member Mark Johnson.
