Bremen High School Launches “The Braves Closet” to Support Student Needs

"I am just so grateful for the level of participation from our students, staff, and community partners."

Bremen High School is proud to announce the launch of The Braves Closet, a new student support initiative designed to ensure all students have access to essential clothing and personal hygiene items — free of charge.

Established over the summer, The Braves Closet was made possible through the efforts of Bremen High School’s building administrators and maintenance team, who transformed the space into a welcoming resource for students. The school’s social work team was then tasked with overseeing daily operations to ensure the closet serves students efficiently and with dignity.

During the fall semester, Dan Ligon took the lead in expanding the initiative by securing donations from community stakeholders and spreading awareness among staff and students.

“When we put out a call for donations, we were delighted by the response,” said Ligon. “I am just so grateful for the level of participation from our students, staff, and community partners. This community truly comes together to help each other in times of need.”

The Braves Closet offers gently used clothing — including shirts, sweatshirts, pants, outerwear, socks, and underwear — as well as essential toiletries such as deodorant, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and feminine hygiene products. All items are available at no cost to Bremen students.

“This closet will help so many Bremen students,” said Jessica Null. “Whether there is an ongoing need for support or something just ‘came up,’ we are able to provide necessities so students can focus on being a Brave."

Students in need of items from The Braves Closet can reach out to the PPS office, submit a request through 5 Star, or connect directly with a school social worker. Access to the closet is handled discreetly to ensure privacy and comfort for all students.

Bremen High School remains committed to supporting the whole child and fostering a school environment where every student feels cared for, confident, and ready to succeed.
