Bremen High School Principal retires after 24 years with D228

"It's kind of remarkable – 24 years goes by very quickly," Kibelkis said. He was honored at the April 19, 2022 School Board meeting.

OAK FOREST, IL -- Bremen High School principal Dave Kibelkis was honored for his years of service within Bremen High School District 228 at the April 19, 2022 school board meeting. Kibelkis is retiring from his position at the end of the school year.

Kibelkis has been involved with the district for over two decades. As a graduate of Bremen High School in Midlothian, Illinois, Kibelkis began his career at Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills. He also served as principal of Tinley Park High School for one year, before taking on his current role at Bremen High School.

For 15 years, Kibelkis has served as the Bremen High School principal, where he is now wrapping his high school career in the same place it initially began.

“It’s kind of remarkable – 24 years goes by very quickly,” Kibelkis said. “This is something that I've really enjoyed, and something that has made my educational life complete.”

Kibelkis went on to thank the Board of Education, as well as Bremen High School faculty for their efforts that made Bremen High School the “jewel of our community.”

“This has been a great place to work, and a great place to go to school everyday,” Kibelkis said. “ I loved every moment of it … it’s not a job, it’s a career – and this has been a great career for me.”

At the meeting, in his red and gray Bremen attire, Kibelkis received a commemorative plaque for the many years of service he dedicated to the schools within District 228.

“I thank Dr. Kibelkis for his many years of service to District 228 staff, students, and communities,” said Dr. Brad Sikora, Superintendent of Bremen High School District 228. “Dr. Kibelkis is commended for building and sustaining a culture at Bremen High School over the past 15 years based on pride. I wish Dr. Kibelkis a happy, healthy, and relaxing retirement!”
