Bremen High School & Univ. of St. Francis Team Up to Help BHS Families Complete FAFSA Forms

Parents and students were guided, line by line, through the FAFSA application

On Wednesday night, October 19, Bremen High School hosted a line-by-line FAFSA completion for senior students and parents! For the past ten years Spanish teacher Mrs. Gina Arguelles has coordinated this important event to help seniors enter the next step of their lives, college.

Representatives from the University of St. Francis, Mark Weber and Elisabet Miramontes, came to help BHS families. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that is done annually for college and prospective college students in the United States to help determine their eligibility for financial aid. "I am so happy that we can count on the University of St. Francis to come and help our Bremen High School students! They are the critical part that makes this event a success year after year,” said Arguelles.

Many seniors and families came to the event ready to work! Jasmine Cervantes is a senior and attended the FAFSA night, "I am so excited! I just finished filling out FAFSA and my application to the University of St. Francis!” Cervantes as well as many others not only were able to get the FAFSA complete but also were able to complete a college application while there!

“The college application process can be quite overwhelming for many students, especially the FAFSA and submitting applications. Thank you to both Ms. Gina Arguelles and St. Francis University for going above and beyond by helping our students with this crucial process,” said Mr. Matthew Meany, Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning. “FAFSA night was a success; I was able to complete my FAFSA application! Thank you for the help!” exclaimed Senior, Guadalupe Ballinas.
