Bremen HS Annual Food Drive a Huge Success
Over 10,000 pounds of food was collected and donated to local church food pantries

The 2017 Bremen High School Food Drive, sponsored by the Student Council and the National Honor Society, was held from November 27 through December 8. The drive was a huge success, collecting over 10,000 pounds of food that was delivered to local food pantries at St. Christopher and St. Stephen’s churches. The combined effort was carried out by Mrs. Sarah Bogard, NHS Sponsor, Mrs. Amanda Chelepis, Student Council Sponsor, Mr. Terry Stephens, retired teacher and former NHS Sponsor, along with all of the NHS and Student Council students, Berkot’s, and Sodexo, who graciously provided a box truck and driver to help in the delivery of the food!
Mr. Art Magana, Manager of Berkot’s Midlothian, has been a major supporter of the BHS Food Drive! Berkot’s donated all of the bags, served as an alternate drop-off site, and also prepared pre-packaged donation bags available for purchase in $5 and $10 increments.
There were over 150 student volunteers during the two week drive. All together BHS students clocked almost 1,100 hours of community service! “As always, this was an amazing endeavor! The success of the food drive each year can only be attributed to teamwork at its best and genuine love for this great community!” said Student Council Sponsor Mrs. Chelepis.
