Bremen HS Auto Mechanic Students Explore the World of Work

Students took field trips to Ziegler BMW Automotive Dealership in Orland Park and Universal Technical Institute in Lisle

Bremen High School Auto Mechanic teacher, Mr. Jerry Ward understands the importance of connecting the classroom to the “real world.” With this in mind, he took his current Auto Mechanic students on field trips to Ziegler BMW Automotive Dealership in Orland Park and Universal Technical Institute in Lisle. At Ziegler BMW the students met several employees who took them on a tour of the facility and discussed the importance of an education and what it takes to facilitate an operation such as their BMW dealer. In addition, students learned about the importance of soft skills (e.g. attendance, leadership skills) in the world of work. Next, students had the opportunity to tour Universal Technical Institute to learn about the different programs they offer for the automotive industry. Mr. Ward stated, “This was a very successful day! Everyone enjoyed the tours and the information they received for furthering their education and the money that can be made in the automotive industry.” For more information, please contact BHS Student Services Counselor Mrs. Carla Cheatham at ccheatham@bhsd228.com or Mr. Jerry Ward at jward@bhsd228.com.
