Bremen HS Brings 'Pride Project' to Neighborhood Middle Schools

'Pride Project' breaks down perceptions about high school

The Bremen Pride Project Team recently kicked off a great pilot program. Sixteen Bremen High School students, led by seniors Corey Conner and Jamie Bazan, visited with the eighth grade students at Kolmar and Central Park Middle School. After addressing the entire 8th grade classes at each building, students were separated into 8 small groups led by the Bremen students. The small group activities served to help break down perceived barriers between 8th grade and freshmen year. Additionally, the Bremen Pride Team reinforced the importance of getting involved in high school and answered students’ general questions.

Sophomore Paige Shaw was one of the Bremen High School students that is part of the Pride Project. “The program was very successful; the students seemed to really appreciate us coming. They asked good questions and seemed to take a lot of the information in. I’m looking forward to going to the other feeder schools in the near future,” said Shaw.
