Bremen HS Celebrates National Foreign Language Week

This year's theme was 'Languages Enrich Your Mind'

Bremen High School’s World Language Department celebrated National Foreign Language Week. The theme of the week was, "Languages Enrich Your Mind.” The World Language teachers worked collaboratively with several other departments in the building to make the week a success! Bremen’s IMC staff created beautiful displays promoting learning another language through books. World Language teacher Mrs. Carrie Diederich hosted a “Salsa Challenge” as part of the entertaining festivities. “I had the students research recipes, select them and make them on their own and then bring the salsas to class for class wide taste tests. The winning salsa recipes then received a gift card to Dunkin Donuts.”

Several other World Language teachers decorated and baked Shrinky Dinks as part of the festivities. “Each Shrinky Dink was either a picture of a monument from a different country or graffiti word art with a positive phrase from over fifteen different languages; the students loved them” said Spanish teacher Mrs. Gina Arguelles. The week also included a poster contest, daily announcements in several languages, and other engaging activities.
