Bremen HS Chemistry Students Put Their Knowledge to the Test
End of quarter projects focus on gases
At the end of each quarter, students in Mrs. Jessica Rucinski’s Chemistry classes complete a culminating project. The project is designed to allow students the opportunity to select a topic from the quarter that most interested them and explore it further. Students are encouraged to design and complete a lab investigation. This quarter’s projects focused on gases. Many students experienced highs and lows as their investigations did not always go as planned. “It may sound strange to say, but my favorite part of these projects is seeing my students struggle,” said Rucinski, “The struggle teaches them that science is messy and requires trial and error and a great deal of patience. It makes me proud to watch them develop problem solving skills while applying knowledge of the scientific process.”
“I enjoyed this project because it made me not only learn new things, but learn them and figure them out on my own,” said sophomore chemistry student Kaleb Bosan.
