Bremen HS Chess Team Has Stand Out Season

IHSA State Tournament was one of the highlights of the season

Bremen High School is proud to announce that the 2015 Chess team had a stand out season! The Braves finished their regular season at 8-4 which led them to conclude their season as overall District 228 champions, Third Place honors in Conference, and qualified for the IHSA State Tournament!

Junior Damian Behymer finished 12th overall in Conference and 25th in the State at Fifth Board, sophomore Christian Mercado finished 11th overall in Conference, while Junior Jerome Baker finished 13th in Conference.

At the IHSA State Tournament, the Braves finished in a respectable 79th place out of 146 schools that had qualified for the tournament. Coach Kevin Carlsen was extremely proud of his team, “We have a great core group this year; I’m already looking forward to next year’s season!”
