Bremen HS Clubs Provide Bunk Beds for El Amor de Patricia

The Interact and World Language Clubs to support this special project

Bremen High School is proud to announce the members of the school’s Interact and World Language Clubs recently voted to approve monetary support of a very special project in Guatemala called the El Amor de Patricia or The Love of Patricia's Bunk Bed Project. The Bunk Bed Project® provides beds for families in need within the Guatemalan community. Volunteers bring the beds to the homes of identified families in need and remove what they were using as beds, such as twigs, cinder blocks, wood pallets or nothing and replace with new bunk beds. One bunk bed is $208 which includes bed/mattresses, two comforters, two pillows, and delivery with a translator and/or guide.

Since both clubs always look for ways to not only support their community but also to reach further to other states (most recently Hurricane Relief in the south) Mrs. Arguelles (sponsor of both clubs) was excited to be able to spread their wings and directly help another country! When presented with this idea to support El Amor de Patricia and after watching the Bunk Bed Project's video, the students unanimously decided to help by providing two sets of bunk beds, two sets of twin sheets and two extra pillows.

Bremen student Karla Perez (who is Guatemalan) said, "It makes me feel real proud to be a Bremen Brave and to be helping my home country! I always see things like this on the news and it's really cool that Bremen High School is part of something that helps others! It's refreshing to see that people around me are willing to make a change in the world. Even if it's a little thing, this still makes a difference!"
